UK healthcare innovator, RD Biomed, developed Peptest, the world’s first non-invasive test for reflux, in 2007. Since that time it has grown to global prominence. Shipping costs and wait times were a barrier to the U.S. market preventing the adoption of this direct to consumer diagnostic test. 

PepsinCheck: Restech’s New At-Home Reflux Testing

Restech, in conjunction with RD Biomed, the creators of Peptest, are proud to provide the first at-home reflux testing available in the U.S., PepsinCheck. Globally, Peptest has provided patients and physicians with valuable information about the presence of pepsin in the upper-airway. With the launch of PepsinCheck, Restech is making this sleek three-vial saliva test kit readily available in the U.S. The test kits are shipped from the U.S., processed at strategically located American labs, and results are sent back to the consumer by USPS and secure email within about a week. 

Both PepsinCheck (U.S. market) and Peptest (non-U.S. markets) are manufactured by RD Biomed to the same global standard. The test detects the presence of the stomach enzyme pepsin (recognized as a reliable diagnostic biomarker for reflux) in saliva and sputum samples.

How Does it Work?

Patients purchase a three tube test kit. They provide samples at morning, noon, and night, or as symptoms occur. These vials are shipped to Pacific Medical Labs for analysis. Within a few days, the patient has their results, ready to share with their physician. Each test provides a simple range of results including both a positive/negative and a quantitative range from 0 to 500 ng/ml.
