CONCLUSION: Big advantage of the pharyngeal 24-pH-monitoring is the objective proof of LPR at the region of interest that medically non-indicated empirical drug treatments – e.g. with proton pump inhibitor – can be avoided and the patient thus be protected from their known side effects.
