New Meta-Analysis Shows Stretta Significantly Improves Reflux and Reduces Acid
August 9, 2012Stretta – Does Not Discriminate GERD Symptoms
July 29, 2013There is no other endoscopic treatment for GERD that has been as widely studied, or for as long as Stretta. This was the conclusion of 8-year clinical data presented as a Poster by Professor Luca Dughera at the recent OESO 2012 Congress in Como, Italy. Patients were treated from June 2002 to May 2012. Heartburn and GERD HQRL scores remained consistent with previously published 4 year data, and more than 60% of available patients were still off PPIs at 8 years. The author also concluded that Stretta is safe and effective, and produces durable, significant improvement in GERD symptoms and quality of life, as well as reduces the use of antireflux medications over the long-term.
The OESO 2012 11th World Conference themed “Reflux disease, from LES to UES, and beyond,” also featured a Special Session on Endotherapy for GERD. This session featured international key opinion leaders discussing the history of endoluminal devices for GERD, and the role of Stretta in effectively treating the transient LES relaxations that are known to cause GERD.
