May 21, 2020MacMurray Centre in Auckland Completes the First Two Stretta Cases in New Zealand
The first Stretta procedures in New Zealand were performed by Dr. Alasdair Patrick and his team, including Dr. Judy Huang and Dr. Anurag Sekra. Logan Batts of Insight Medical provided in-person support, while Restech’s VP of Clinical Affairs, Thomas Ball, and Director of Market Development in SE Asia, Brandon Wang, joined remotely via teleconference to provide technical support and assistance.
The two Stretta procedures represented another New Zealand first for the brand new MacMurray Centre in Auckland, contributing to its burgeoning reputation for cutting edge medical care. The Centre is committed to investing in innovative technologies and to staying abreast of research and development, making Stretta a key addition.
Stretta Therapy is a minimally invasive, endoscopic procedure that significantly reduces GERD symptoms, allowing a majority of patients to eliminate or significantly decrease the use of PPIs. Stretta is an outpatient procedure performed in less than 60 minutes, allowing patients to return to normal activities the following day.
Stretta is the only widely studied minimally invasive treatment option for GERD – and has been proven safe and effective in more than 40 clinical studies and 30,000+ procedures. Patients experience significant and lasting symptom relief from 4-10 years*.
With additional procedures already scheduled, the MacMurray Centre and Insight Medical envision Stretta playing a pivotal role in the minimally invasive treatment of reflux in New Zealand over the coming years.
* While clinical studies support the safety and effectiveness of Stretta for patients with chronic GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), individual results will vary from case to case and there are no guarantees of a successful outcome.
